A look back into our past

I try to create wines that suit our climate and our way of life – wines to drink with the food we grow, make and eat.

– Moose mountain vineyards

MMV was realised to focus on our passion for the region and its ability to produce dry – grown and environmentally sustainable wine. Recently a new home was established on our holistic philosophy to winemaking which starts with climate, empahasizes the importance on the vineyard, as well as wine’s relation to the food we love to grow, cook, and eat.

2008

The first vines were planted with the help of family and friends.

2009

We make ourselves an official winery and begin winery operations.

2012

The vineyard began to expand as the winemaker, Rich’s passion started to grow. He began to plant more varietals including our beloved Tannat.

2017

It is no longer just a hobby for Dr. Schmidt, we’re making Tannat worth talking about.

2021

Our new facilities and crush pad is here just in time for harvest!

2022

Moose Mountain Vineyards is growing fast and is known for its European style, unique Tannat and their full bodied wines.

2023

MMV has expanded south to the beautiful Adelaida AVA in Paso Robles. We have a mature 9-acre vineyard with panoramic views from the hilltop. Our 5 Paso varietals are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Tannat and Semillon on a limestone vineyards terroir.

2023 we became certified.
